Style Icon: Michael Jackson

It's funny... what is Michael Jackson known for? His amazing music? His personality? His controversies? His concerts? His children? His ranch?

You might be expecting me to talk about his (amazing) music and his artistic contribution to the world (which was also true) but what some people neglect to realize is- Michael Jackson's fashion was almost as influential as his music! It's amazing. I hereby refer to this video made by INT.


I'm not going to get into my depression over MJ's death, my consistent belief that he is innocent of child abuse charges, the pity I feel for his kids, the genuine loss for the world ... etc.

Thriller is one of the best videos EVER, which made the way for all music videos but the fashion. Those MJ jackets! (see below)

Runway Review: Chloé Fall RTW 2009

     The Clothes:

      In my opinion, these were the highlights of the whole collection.

   

1. White shirt with long black overalls-

   While overalls usually in designer collections represent some kid of child-like element the designer is trying to bring to the outfit, there is nothing childish about these. They are classy and look great with the studs. More "PURE" than the park... I like it. 7/10

2. Felt-y trench coat, cinched loosely with trousers-

   I don't know why, but this reminds me of Burberry. It's the trench, I guess. Much better, though. Very "London".  It looks almost 90's grunge... but classy. Odd. 6/10

3. Almost Grecian dress with amazingly beautiful shoes-

     I am in LOVE with this night gown, doll inspired (or so it seems) dress. It's so Victorian. Don't even get me started about the shoes. 9/10

4. Ultra-Feminine Streetwear Outfit

    I love it. The high waited jeans really compliment the outfit. 8/10

  Overview: While some pieces were boring, and some amazing, my overall rating for the collection is..... 7/10

1. Beauty Buys.....

   See upcoming post. I have been obsessed with buying Lancome Juicy Tubes, all organic "Origins" Green Tea lotion, Suki cleanser (see below), Ecco Bella Vanilla conditioner.... ahh.

2.  LADY GAGA!!!

     Am I the only one in love with her clothes (Yes, cliché as it may be, I am gaga for Gaga!)? And her music?  

    "Cherry, Cherry, Boom Boom!" 

3. Italian Fashion

   I hereby give you permission to be jealous. I am honeymooning in Italy. No, I did not get married (don't you think you would have seen the dress?!), but my mom is and WE, yes all of us, are vacationing in Italy. Florence, Rome, Tuscany, Naples... here I come. Donatella, Stefano, Miuccia! 

Summer Fashion

   Sum-mer! Sum-mer!! Hear that last school bell ringing? Kids will be running out like maniacs any second. (Not me... I'm homeschooled!) Pools, popsicles and Pucci. What more can you want?

A horrendous event, right now as I write this, is taking place in Canada. It is known as the "Canadian Seal Hunt".

To put it simply, mean people beat baby seals over the head until they die so they can use the skin.

Most of you know how I feel about any cruelty to animals (vegan, huuge animal lover, etc.).. but this, this is an absolute outrage.

Please, on behalf of all seals and animals, write to the Candian government and put a stop to it NOW. This cannot go on....

The first 19,000 were killed over the last 2.5 days.
